A word to our clients about how we’re aiming to keep you and our community safe.
As we monitor and learn more about the spread of Coronavirus in our communities, we want to inform you about what we’re doing as a company to protect you from the potential spread of the virus. Since The World Organization for Animal Health states that, “The current spread of COVID-19 is a result of human to human transmission. To date, there is no evidence that companion animals can spread the disease,” and “There have not been any reports of companion or other animals becoming sick with COVID-19 and currently there is no evidence that they play a significant epidemiological role in this human disease”, our focus is on protecting our human clients from the threat of infection.
First and foremost, if you choose to have us continue to visit with your pets, please know that we are doing everything we can to prevent contamination of your home by taking the following steps:
Not all of the benefits of daily dog walking are related to your pet getting great exercise. Dogs benefit from good mental stimulation too. Getting out in the natural environment and exploring the world is a great way to satisfy their curiosity and exercise their brain.
Here's just that kind of situation that happened on a recent dog walk in Jackson New Jersey- our big furry friend Kato met something he's never seen before- a cold, scaly stranger...
Missy and I have been pet sitting and dog walking in Jackson NJ for the past 18 years. Most often, the pets we see are happy, playful, and full of life. Providing the bestcare for pets while pet sitting and ensuring they're getting great exercise with dog walking and socialization for potty breaks is always a healthy challenge to us. But because we come from a veterinary background, we're able tocare for severely debilitated pets too. And sometimes,we are also inspired by the pets and owners we work with.
For the past two weeks, we've been caring for this brave little chihuahua mix, "Simba". He has a serious condition called mega-esophagus. Normally, the esophagus (the "tube" connecting the mouth and stomach) acts as a muscle and pushes food down into the stomach. With megaesophagus, the esophagus is enlarged and does not push the food down. The food doesn't enter the stomach and often stays in the esophagus and can eventually be regurgitated, enter the lungs when breathing (causing asp...
Last summer we met Sydney, a beautiful, friendly, and energetic 3 year old labrador retriever. Her owner knew she was craving more exercise, but didn't have the time for longer walks. Sydney was also very hard to control on a leash, so even when she tried, her owner didn't enjoy the fight to keep her under control. As a result, Sydney was overweight and becoming destructive in the house due to excess, unused energy.
When her owner called and asked for help with dog walking, we knew we could help her and Sydney. With years of experience walking all kinds breeds, sizes, and personalities of dogs, we were able to easily begin a dog walking regimen that included long walks for needed exercise with positive reinforcement for good leash manners.
After only a few weeks, Sydney became accustomed to regular walks on leash. She no longer felt the need to pull because she knew she was going on a long walk, and pulling made her even more tired. Seeing other dogs around the nei...
What do all these "Happy Pets" have in common? Their owners take advantage of our "Play & Potty" breaks! For dogs whose owners are away for long periods during the work day, these mid-day visits have many benefits for your pet & you:
1) They allow your pet to stretch their legs and get needed exercise (A tired dog is a well-behaved dog!)
2) Pets get fun social interaction that's "all about them"
3) They're given a chance to "go potty", possibly avoiding accidents in the house. Remember, just because they can hold it all day, doesn't mean they should. There's lots of good medical information explaining why its better for dogs to not "hold it" all day.
4) It gives us a chance to check on your pet- especially useful for those with medical problems, those needing medication, puppies and senior dogs.
Right now we're offering a special for new clients who want to give their pets the benefit of these visits- set up one month's worth of Play & Potty visits, receive the next week FREE!
C&M Pet Care Professionals has been helping people care fortheir dogs, cats, and other pets in Jackson, Howell, Lakewood, and Freehold NJ with pet sitting and dog walking since the days when Missy and I worked together at Cedars Veterinary Hospital in Brick, NJ. With additional services likenail trims, ear cleaning, and fluid therapy for dogs, cats, reptiles- from pocket pets to farm animals- we've been doing it all with love and affection for nearly 20 years. In the meantime, I've been working full-time at area veterinary hospitals as a veterinary technician and practice manager at Jackson Veterinary Clinic in Jackson and on the administrative staff at NorthStar VETS in Robbinsville, and was only able to help out where needed- before and after work, weekends, and as back-up. The time had long since come when we needed to expand the team, but we never felt comfortable bringing on an employee. Yet it was saddening to us not being able to add new cli...
